Report from the crusade in Burma - October 2014

Friday
The crusade in Burma has begun. Things have been restless throughout all of Burma, and many cities have curfews. The first meeting was a good one. We have to be careful, but close to a hundred Buddhists received Jesus tonight. In the photo you can see two Buddhist children receiving Jesus. One woman who had been operated on for breast cancer told us how she felt a burning sensation during prayer, and that her tumor disappeared.

There is a wonderful freedom from Christian traditions here. Everyone is either a former Buddhist or a Buddhist who got saved tonight. When I finished and the worship began, immense joy was released. They’ve managed to get some red and green flashing lights, so…you won’t find any typical church traditions here!

Saturday
The battle for the jungles of Burma continued today. We experienced an outpouring of God’s power. In total about 150 Buddhists have received Jesus. Today nearly all of them were baptized in the Holy Spirit, and the floor looked like a battlefield. There were people lying everywhere. The Holy Spirit came in wave after wave, and it felt like it never ended. All of them are first generation believers, and there is so much hunger for more of Jesus. They have somehow managed to get colored LED lights that they randomly turn on and off. It reminds me of a 70’s disco, so these people know nothing about typical church traditions. Despite their poverty they have so much joy. When I left, everyone was dancing and singing for Jesus! Old and young, newly-saved Buddhists, all while red, yellow, and blue lights were flashing in the middle of the jungle.

In the photo you can see a girl whose father was healed yesterday. I am not quite sure what was wrong with him, but he had been sick for 10 years. His daughter had the same sickness, but she was healed tonight!

Sunday
In the battle for the jungle, this night was free from all inhibitions. I wish you could have been there! The presence of God was mighty from the very start. The room was bursting with all the people trying to fit in. In total about 200 Buddhists have given their lives to Jesus.

Tonight everyone who came wanted prayer. It took time to pray for all of them, but the power of God came in a mighty way. Just after praying with a large group of Buddhists to salvation, a bunch of them fell to the ground when we cried out ”Jesus!” It was powerful and remarkable. There is such power in the name of Jesus!

The woman in the picture was a witch, and her demons spoke using different voices. The picture was taken just before she was set free from the last demon. It is strange, and a bit creepy, when the demons shriek, ”Not him!”

We can’t have outdoor crusades in Burma, but at the end of the meeting the Lord promised us that ”not in two years, but in five”we will be able to ”rent the large arenas and gather up to 100,000 Buddhists.” Let us believe and thank Jesus that it will be so. The battle for the jungle has begun…
