Report from the crusade i Mzuzu, Malawai – September 2014

Thursday – Taking time to pray for 500-700 people
This crusade is finally underway. It is obvious that we are far from western civilization. Malawi is the poorest and least developed of all of the countries we have visited. After over five hours in a car on a deserted road we made it to Mzuzu. Things move along much more slowly here. Problems get solved when they arise and the bus comes when it comes.

The first night was a pretty good night, but cold. I invited the sick to come forward for prayer. I asked the ushers to help me so that only the sick were allowed forward. Between 500 to 700 people came, so it took time.

Many of those who got healed said that it was as if something left them. That is typical of our meetings.

After a plate of fries and a Toblerone it’s time for bed. I have switched the AC to a heater and it sounds like there is something stuck in there.

Tomorrow we are believing for breakthrough at both the leader seminar and the crusade.

Here is a short video report from the first night.

Friday – The empty wheelchair
Rumors started spreading after the first meeting. The meeting tonight went deeper in the Spirit and this could be seen in several ways. When I arrive at the crusade I always greet those at the front. The woman in the photo had come in a wheelchair! She was the first person I greeted, which I did while looking her deep in the eyes and commanding her in Jesus’ name to stand up. She stood up!

The photo of the empty wheelchair is from the end of the meeting when we left. Once she had started walking, she didn’t sit down again for two hours!

Tonight was a typical night for our ministry, with lots of deliverances. We are in the middle of 3 large slum regions, so tomorrow there will be lots of people.

Your prayers and encouragement are a part of the whole. We at Pastor Tommy Lilja Ministries are in this together with you!

Mission Report 2: Mzuzu, Malawi

Saturday – The interpreter could no longer stand
Today something happened that has never happened before. The Holy Spirit suddenly fell over several hundred children, and they fell to the ground as if struck by an invisible wave. It was amazing to see.

I also made the mistake of placing my hand on the interpreter in the middle of the sermon. He couldn’t stand, so we had to sing songs until he could stand up again after 15 minutes. A lot of Muslims came to the meeting after a deaf Muslim girl was healed. It was a good night.

Here you can see a short video showing what happened today. We weren’t able to capture when the Holy Spirit fell, although you can see a little bit in the right corner of the screen. But you can watch as thousands receive Jesus, see the interpreter get filled with the Holy Spirit and listen to a woman who got healed the second night and had been to the doctor to get her healing confirmed.

Sunday – He is there, in their midst, Jesus of Nazareth
The last day was huge and as we leave we know that more than just a crusade has impacted Mzuzu. Something new has been established, the pastors and churches have been set on fire again, several hundred people were set free (including many children), many have been healed, saved, baptized in the Holy Spirit, and a process of restoration has begun in the lives of individuals, in families and in the society. Jesus was there, and the good work that he began he will also be faithful to complete.

I always experience a reaction that comes when a crusade has ended. Thousands of individuals have been personally touched by Jesus. I think a lot about the children who got healed and how they can stand for two hours during the altar call and prayer time. Thousands of children. They lift their hands, close their eyes and seek the baptism of the Holy Spirit, and so many of them get set free! Just imagine – such young children can have a dark power living on the inside of them. One night I commanded ”demons of abuse” to come out. Many children fell to the ground and manifested. We don’t even want to consider what they have suffered through. This is the gospel: sweat, tears, joy, healing, restoration and deliverance. It is gravel, dust, poor people who dance for hours and sing to Jesus. In the midst of this poverty, Jesus is going forth as he has always done, among the bruised, the poor and the sick. He isn’t embarrassed by the demon-possessed, dirty children. He is there, in their midst, Jesus of Nazareth.
